Mrs. Yolanda Renee Sims Sanders the Executive Director of United Way of Lowndes & Noxubee, joined the United Way team in the spring of 2015 as the new director for Volunteer Columbus, an internal program of United Way.
Prior to working with United Way, she was employed with East Mississippi Community College/CAFB for 18 years, where she served in a student support capacity.
She strives to maintain three personal qualities: authenticity, consistency and perseverance. She holds her faith, family, and friendships as the key to long life, success and good health.
Her #1 goal for United Way is to leave United Way better than she found it by being a good steward of what the United Way board and community has entrusted her to do.
In her spare time, she teaches online courses for East Mississippi Community College, she is a fitness instructor at the YMCA, and the youth director at her church, New Zion Pilgrim M.B. Church, in Columbus, Ms.
Renee and her husband Donnie (a life-long resident of Columbus) have been married for 30 years and have three amazing adult daughters, one granddaughter, and one grandson.
Renee holds an MS in Exercise Science from Mississippi University for Women and a BA in Business from Jackson State University.
