Dr. Jackson Akwaowo works as an Equal Opportunity Manager for the Department of Defense. He focuses on affirmative employment for historically underrepresented groups in the federal government through outreach with colleges and universities in Mississippi and Alabama. He presents at local and state events on topics that include: special hiring authorities, disability management, performance improvement, and communicating across differences in the workplace.
Akwaowo is also an Adjunct professor in the College of Graduate Studies at Trine University, where he teaches graduate courses in Business. He received a M.Sc. in Human Performance Improvement and a Doctorate in Business Administration with a specialization in Management from Northcentral University at Prescott Valley, Arizona in 2017.
A recipient of the Cocoa City Chambers of Commerce Volunteer Service Award, he has been a lifelong volunteer, active in civic organizations, non-government organizations, orphanages, and community outreach programs in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, and Texas. Akwaowo relocated to Columbus, Mississippi after 18 years of service with the United States Army.
Akwaowo is married to Dr. Crystal Akwaowo with 3 teenage sons. His favorite things to do include cooking a cuisine from a different country weekly and soccer. (last updated in 2022)
